I'm still stacking dates for Q2, and this week, I head to the Big Apple to sit in conversation with Carla Harris of Morgan Stanley, with our special guest host Mike Hyter, CEO of the Executive Leadership Council.

Next week, I'm with my Sorors from the Phi Phi Omega chapter in Alpharetta, GA, then I'm going a little north of The City, up the Hudson River to speak at my first festival and Pinksters Celebration. Did you know that there are Black Dutch? I get to meet them.

In June I'll be back here in Dallas for a couple stops: first the Greater Life Church where my dear friends Rev. Stephen Brown and his wife Dr. Nicole are Pastor and First Lady. Then, I'll find myself at the downtown HQs of my old stomping ground, AT&T.

More summer dates and cities are forthcoming. Stay tuned, and I hope to see many of you on the road! Call and Response: 10 Leadership Lessons from the Black Church is all about how heart-centered leaders have been built for generations in an unsuspecting place and how to build more like them intentionally. The lost and found is calling, and it's for you.

Your leadership is lost somewhere between what you said and what they heard. It's time you located it and connect with your people so they'll trust you.

What am I talking about?

Take for instance how leaders are talking about AI with their teams right now.
In many cases, the message is clear, thoughtful, and forward-looking. Leaders are doing what they have been asked to do by naming the opportunity and pointing toward what is possible; and still, something is not fully landing.

Not because the message is wrong, but because people are not only listening to what is said.

They are filling the gap with fear.

Closing that gap is not just a matter of communicating more clearly. It is relationship work, and relationship work always begins with self-work. This is key to building heart-centered leadership muscle.
