I love it when journalists ask insightful question

I love it when journalists ask insightful questions--when they haven't just read one book, but familiarized themselves with your body of work. Because it is never just about one book. If you ever wondered how all my books are linked, this is it, and it isn't just about leadership. It's deeper than that. One literally leads to the other, and it traces my journey as I up-skill, and there is more to come.

My time at Greater Life Church was a pure joy. Not only did I receive a standing ovation, we sold out of all of the Call and Response books in less than 15 minutes. It never fails. If I take the platform, but books fly. Thank you to Pastor Stephen G. Brown and my dear friend Dr. Nicole Brown for having me as their special guest speaker. They'll be with me again Sunday, July 26th at True Lee Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas. Call and Response is coming to True Lee Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas. I’m thrilled to join Rev. Donald R. Parish, Jr., senior pastor of True Lee, for a fireside chat during service and a book signing immediately following to talk about how to fill the leadership pipeline to corporate America and beyond with more heart-centered leaders from the pews.

Toxic positivity isn't always syrupy sweet platitu

Toxic positivity isn't always syrupy sweet platitudes. Sometimes it is buried in the "keep it moving" or "keep going" mentality and the pushing through to the next despite the adversity.

That's why some of us really aren't as resilient as we think...at least not yet. We call ourselves tough. We call ourselves strong.

We try to skip over the most important part that grants us the resilient title: the reflection and the healing, the part that teaches us the message in the mess.

If you've ever had a wound that didn't heal, it may be because you didn't let the wound scab over the way it's supposed to.

While on the Call and Response book and media tour, leaders have loved repeating and remembering the "Name it, tame it, and then reframe it" because it's not only catchy and easy to remember.

It sounds simple.

But there's a messy part right in the middle that many of us skip.

The taming takes work, and it isn't always pretty.

I'm excited to share that I just pre-signed invent

I'm excited to share that I just pre-signed inventory of Call and Response: 10 Leadership Lessons from the Black Church earmarked specifically for the 30th Annual E.K. Bailey Preaching Conference, the premiere conference on expository preaching in the world. Those books will be available during the conference on a first-come, first-serve basis in the Connections Bookstore (shoutout to bookstore manager, Autumn Taylor) which will be open to serve you each day of the conference. I plan to be in and out of some of the sessions and/or services, so I hope to meet you there. It's always a good time! Thank you to Senior Pastor Bryan L.
